About

Melissa Kay Anderson grew up in the Inland Empire, a suburban area about 60 miles east of Los Angeles, CA.  Born to Jamaican parents, Melissa grew up around laughter, quick wit, and rambunctious games of dominoes.  She began performing at a young age and continued throughout high school and college.  After a failed attempt to study kinesiology (literally failing), she decided to cut her losses and major in English, minor in Theatre and never look back.  While at USC, she performed in various plays and dance shows and a personally, life-changing production of Maria Irene Fornes‘ “Fefu and her Friends”.  Soon after graduating, Melissa auditioned for the MFA acting program at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco.  Although she wasn’t one of the 17 students chosen that year, she was selected for the wait list out of thousands of hopefuls that fall.  Nothing if not determined, Melissa continued her studies learning historical styles of acting such as, Greek, Shakespeare, and Comedy of Manners and performed with the Promenade Playhouse, Culver City Public Theater and Towne Street Theatre.
